Who am I?
Who is behind BiocharKool

My name is Duc Pham. I am an engineer.
For more than 30 years, I have worked on industrial projects in France and Southeast Asia: power plants, automotive, buildings, water treatment, railway signalling, offshore oil installations and refineries.
My part was instrumentation and control. That is where I learned to understand these systems as a whole: flows, machines and teams that must hold together.
In 2017, at the Perpignan wastewater treatment plant, I commissioned a biogas upgrading unit designed and built in Vietnam. In Vietnam, I used Paul Olivier’s gasifier stove: it cooks meals with rice husks and leaves biochar behind. With the NGO Mékong Plus, I designed a small open source pyrolyser heated with rice husks.

I am in the second part of my career. It makes more sense to me: the projects I lead regenerate the planet instead of damaging it.
That is how BiocharKool was born. Its foundations are the work of Paul Olivier and Gunter Pauli’s blue economy. The goal: put industrial know-how at the service of local loops, where what one discards feeds another.
I am an architect of productive symbioses. An architect does not build alone.
I rely on partners: farmers, craftspeople, researchers, laboratories, industrial companies, manufacturers, as well as funds and programmes for the ecological transition and the climate.
